Ween - Rock Band Information
Ween is an American rock band with the current lineup consisting of Gene Ween, Dean Ween, Dave Dreiwitz, Claude Coleman Jr., and Glenn McClelland. Ween formed in 1983 and released multiple cassette albums independently. GodWeenSatan: The Oneness (1990), The Pod (1991), and Pure Guava (1992) were their subsequent official lo-fi album releases. The group got a deal with major label Elektra Records for their album Pure Guava.
Ween announced their reunion on November 16, 2015, saying they would perform on February 12 and 13, 2016, at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. Ween's 2020 tour, like most others, was derailed by the pandemic, forcing the band to push back its June and July gigs to 2021. At the South Park 25th Anniversary Concert on August 9 and 10, 2022, Ween performed alongside Primus and South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. On August 13, it aired on Comedy Central, and on August 14, it aired on Paramount+.
Ween is well-known for its eclectic musical style, which draws from various sources. Ween have been likened to Frank Zappa due to their eclectic sound and clever lyrics. Neither member admits to being influenced by Zappa, and in an interview from 2011, Freeman said that while he liked The Mothers of Invention, he never liked anything Zappa did after that.
