Weedeater Information
Weedeater is an American stoner metal band. The current lineup consists of Dave “Dixie” Collins (vocals and bass) and Dave “Shep” Shepherd (guitar). The band was formed in 1998 in Wilmington, North Carolina, started by Dave “Dixie” Collins as a side-project. In 2001, Weedeater released its debut album entitled, And Justice for Y’all. In 2003, they came up with their second album entitled, Sixteen Tons. Both albums were released through the band’s first record label, Berserker Records.
Weedeater signed a record deal with American metal record label Southern Lord Records after releasing Sixteen Tons. The band then released its third album on their newly signed album entitled Gol Luck and Good Speed. The band was announced as one of the acts to perform at Hellfest in 2010, including Gwar, Architects, and Arch Enemy.
In early January 2010, Weedeater again entered the studio to record their fourth album with producer Steve Albini. Arik Roper designed the album cover for the band. The album is entitled Jason… The Dragon was finally released on March 15, 2011. The band’s most recent album, Goliathan, was released through Season of Mist on May 18, 2015.
