Wale Information
Olubowale Victor Akintimehin (September 21, 1984), also known as Wale, is an American rapper. First well-known for his 2006 single "Dig Dug (Shake It)," Wale's hometown of Washington D.C. helped him to get further local exposure as he accumulated several follow-up releases. Wale signed with English DJ-producer Mark Ronson's Allido Records in 2007, and following a three-label bidding battle, he formed a joint venture with Interscope Records for US$1.3 million the next year.
Following his February split with Atlantic Records, Wale unexpectedly put out a four-track EP called It's Complicated on March 13, 2018. Two months later, he debuted a second EP on May 8, 2018, called Self Promotion. R&B artist Jacquees was the lone guest feature of the four-track EP. Wale released two songs in December 2018, "Winter Wars" and "Poledancer." October 11, 2019 saw the release of his sixth album, Wow... That's Crazy. It contained the single "On Chill".
Wale released an EP titled The Imperfect Storm on June 19, 2020. Wale reportedly quit Maybach Music Group after running afoul of label owner Rick Ross and signed with Def Jam Recordings on October 20, 2023. Wale debuted his first track for the label, "Max Julien," the same day the news broke. Three days later, the song's music video surfaced.
