Villalobos Brothers Information
The Villalobos Brothers is a Mexican trio. The Villalobos Brothers were born and reared in the Mexican city of Xalapa, about an hour's drive from Veracruz. They grew up listening to their grandmother Cristina Vásquez perform music for people dining in the various coastal restaurants, dancing with them at a country fandango, or just for fun after a long day at work. The trio began playing the violin at a young age and soon picked up the guitar, keyboard, thin-bodied guitars known as jaranas, singing, and other musical instruments.
Later, they began specializing in classical violin and composition, which led to the development of their playing technique known as "Fast-Chatting Violin," which has a quick succession of notes and percussion that mimics the human voice. They studied composition and counterpoint under Eugeniusz Sleziak Kandora, Roberto Lira López, Ryszard Siwy Machalica from 1990 to 2000, and the classical violin with Carlos Marrufo Gurrutia.
The Villalobos Brothers, regarded as child prodigies, made their solo violin concerto debut at a young age with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, performing works by Sibelius, Brahms, and Saint-Sans. Additionally, they performed independently with the National Symphony Orchestras of Peru and Cuba.
