Vetiver Information
Vetiver is an American folk band. The group's current lineup consists of Bob Parins, Daniel Hindman, Sarah Versprille, Otto Hauser, and Andy Cabic. In 2002, San Franciscans established Vetiver. The band's first album was Self-titled in 2004 on the independent folk label DiCristina.
Vetiver has been on the road since the record came out, playing shows and collaborating with artists like Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. A second album by Vetiver, titled To Find Me Gone, was published on DiCristina that same year. Banhart and Cabic also released Jana Hunter's Blank Unstaring Heirs of Doom on Gnomonsong Recordings in 2005, and There's No Home in 2007. Vetiver's Thing of the Past, a 2008 compilation of cover songs that impacted Cabic's style, was also released on the label. The Tight Knit, Errant Charm, and Complete Strangers albums by Vetiver were released through Sub Pop Records (US) and Bella Union (UK).
At the beginning of 2007, the group went on tour across the United States alongside Vashti Bunyan. Over the years, the group has shared the stage with such acts as Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Fruit Bats, and Wilco. Many television ads have used music composed and performed by Cabic, including one for Birds Eye. The documentary The Family Jams and the 2012 Sundance selection Smashed feature compositions by him.
