TRST Information
Robert Alfons' TR/ST is a Canadian electronic music project. When Alfons met Maya Postepski of Austra in 2010, they decided to establish a band. In late 2009, Alfons and Postepski met, began writing songs together, and founded the band in January 2010, asserting that they were more than an Austra side project.
The band began their career with Sacred Bones Records, releasing their debut singles "Candy Walls" and "Bulbform" in 2011. Following the success of the former, they were signed to Arts & Crafts the following year.
Arts & Crafts released Joyland on March 3, 2014. The album garnered mostly positive feedback. MusicOMH gave it a 4 out of 5 rating. Robert Alfons revealed in the summer of 2016 that his planned third studio album was "being finished late last month." The album was supposed to be released in 2017, but it was postponed. The album was recorded in a 150-year-old farmhouse near Toronto's north end and Los Angeles.
Robert Alfons released "Iris," the second single from his fourth studio album, The Destroyer (Part 2), on July 25, 2019. Alfons produced the track, Damian Taylor mixed it, and Lia Braswell provided live drums.
