Trace Bundy Information
Trace Bundy (January 20, 1977) is an acoustic guitar player who lives and performs in Boulder, Colorado. His fans know him as “The Acoustic Ninja” for his finger tapping and legato skills. He was born in Austin, Minnesota, and later moved to Buena Vista, Colorado. Bundy bought his first guitar with his mother’s help and began learning songs from different guitar magazines. He experimented a lot with his playing style as a teenager. Bundy got tired of guitar picks and grew his fingernails long to develop his fingerpicking style.
In high school, Bundy met Jonah Werner, who is now a famous acoustic folk songwriter. After a quick meeting, they began playing at a local coffee shop in Buena Vista. The two played Jackopierce along with many other folk songs. Bundy also met Tim Thornton from Newcomers Home. They all attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. Bundy earned his undergraduate and master’s degree there in civil engineering.
His debut musical release came out in 1999 with O Night Divine. It was a collection of traditional Christmas songs. Bundy later released a CD/DVD entitled “Adapt.” It was a live concert that was filmed in the summer of 2004 in Boulder. Clips from the DVD have been uploaded on YouTube, receiving over twenty-one million views. After this album, Bundy released “A Few Songs for Christmas,” an EP of more Christmas songs released in December 2007. “Elephant King” is a more recent album by Bundy, which was released in 2012.
