Tony Saunders is a bass and synthesizer player, who is the son of a world-famous keyboardist, Merl Saunders. He deals in jazz, gospel, R&B, and Pop genres. Saunders is also an arranger, music producer, composer, and head of a studio. He has a musical family background, he began to sing when he was only five, and when he turned eight, he started playing the piano. He was the student of Herbie Hancock and Sly Stone. Sly offered him an organ at the age of 10, and when Saunders was 14, the bass became his next instrument to conquer. He grew up surrounded by many great musicians due to his father and his cousin Eddie Moore, Sonny Rollins, Dewey Redmen, George Duke, Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine, and a few more were all there for Tony to listen to and learn from.
Tony worked as a lead singer for The Man Child Singers that performed and recorded the songs Right On, Mighty Whitey, and a San Francisco Giants jingle. When he was 17, he started to play with his father and Jerry Garcia while being a featured musician in Merl Saunders & Aunt Monk. Tony also played in the original Rainforest Band. Tony shared his major influences to be Alphonso Johnson, Rufus Reid, Ralphe Armstrong, Stanley Clarke, and Marcus Miller.

Tony is the winner of two Emmy awards, and he also won the New York Film Festival's Grand and Silver Award.
