Tommy Torres Information
Tommy Torres (November 25, 1971) is a Puerto Rican record producer, singer, and songwriter. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Torres began his musical education early, picking up the violin and keyboard along the way. He started composing songs when he was a senior in high school. He then attended and excelled at Berklee College of Music, where he studied music production, engineering, and commercial arranging for his Bachelor of Music degree. Originally from Cuba, Torres settled in New York City in the 1980s and worked as an assistant at Sony Music Studios until relocating to Miami, Florida, in 1998.
In 1999, his work "No Puedo Olvidar" was covered for the first time by the pop group MDO. Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart now features the song at the top spot. Another song he wrote, "Llegar A Ti," was recorded by Christian singer Jaci Velasquez that same year and immediately rose to the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart, winning him an ASCAP Song of the Year award. His production of Son By Four's "Cuando Seas Mia" in 2001 helped the band reach the top of the Billboard charts.
In the latter half of 2004, Torres began arranging Ricardo Arjona's Adentro. It received universal acclaim upon its release. After being written by Arjona and arranged and produced by Torres, "Acompaame an Estar Solo" topped the Billboard Magazine charts.
