Tom Cochrane Information
Tom Cochrane (May 14, 1953) is a Canadian musician. He was born in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Cochrane joined the Canadian rock band Red Rider in 1978 after meeting the other band members in Toronto's El Mocambo restaurant. He remained with the band for over a decade, performing as lead singer and primary songwriter. The members of Red Rider were Ken Greer, Jeff Jones, Peter Boynton, and Rob Baker.
From the beginning until 1985, the band was under Bruce Allen's management. Six studio albums, a live album, a greatest hits album, and a box set are all things that Cochrane and Red Rider have contributed to the world of music. Tom Cochrane & Red Rider was the name on the band's record label in 1986. Before the publication of Mad Mad World, he enjoyed a time of "manageable success," as he put it.
Cochrane, already well-known in Canada thanks to his work with Red Rider, released his debut solo single, "Life Is a Highway," in 1991. After the single's success, he released his Mad Mad World album, which went on to sell over six million copies worldwide. This was followed by the albums Ragged Ass Road, Songs of a Circling Spirit, X-Ray Sierra, and No Stranger.
In 2003, Cochrane was recognized for his significant impact in advancing the profile of Canadian music by being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The wedding was on April 5, 2003, at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec.
