The Young Fables Information
Music by The Young Fables combines traditional country roots music with a contemporary sensibility and modern storytelling. Maryville, Tennessee residents Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford draw inspiration from Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Glen Campbell, and Chet Atkins, among many others. The Young Fables' (TYF) distinctive music has resounded with listeners worldwide, and the band's live shows have become platforms for the pair to broach subjects more commonly discussed in therapy sessions. The Young Fables are "like watching a tennis match of skill; her vocal, his guitar technique," says the band's manager, Patryk Larney.
And Larney isn't the only one who's taken note of the pair's impressive abilities. At the tender age of 16, the sultry-toned singer got her big break when she won the Texaco Country Showdown, which netted her $100,000 and a spot on the Ryman Auditorium's world-famous stage. Wright was able to use this as a catapult to increase her bookings in east Tennessee, and soon after, guitarist Wes Lunsford, who Gretsch endorses, saw her. Instantly clicking, the two became the nucleus of what would later become known as The Young Fables.
Having teamed up with Nashville's Hope Tree Entertainment, Wright and Lunsford released their debut album Two in 2017, followed by Old Songs (a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning producer Mitch Dane) in 2019. Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta called Wright's vocals "flawless."
