The Wood Brothers Information
The Wood Brothers is an American-roots band composed of Chris Wood (upright bass), Oliver Wood (acoustic and electric guitars), and Jano Rix, who plays many instruments. Their sound incorporates elements of jazz, gospel, blues, and folk.
American roots music was integral to Chris and Oliver Wood's upbringing in Boulder, Colorado. Their mother was a poet who taught a love of narrative and lyrical construction. At the same time, their father was a molecular scientist who sang traditional songs over campfires and at family reunions.
The brothers recorded a demo CD, including Oliver's music. When they signed with Blue Note Records, their debut studio album, Ways Not To Lose, was published in 2006. At the Allairen Studion in Shokhan, New York, The album was recorded in September 2005 and produced by Chris's fellow member of MMW, John Medeski.
In 2008, they dropped their follow-up album Loaded. Up Above My Head was their cover EP the next year. The band's debut album on Southern Ground Artists, produced by Zac Brown, Smoke Ring Halo, was recorded in 2011 in Nashville's Southern Ground Studios.
The next year, in 2015, the band's Easy Eye Sound label published Paradise, their LP. Regarding album sales, Paradise was their most successful to that moment, peaking at No.1 on the Top Heatseekers and No.12 on the US Country Music charts.
