Eric Whitacre and poet/lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri's most recent joint effort is a 12-movement piece titled The Sacred Veil that tells a story of life, love, and grief. Julie Silvestri, Silvestri's wife of 36 years, passed away from ovarian cancer in 2005, leaving behind two small children.
The personal and moving score was written by Silvestri, Whitacre, and Julie herself and depicts a story of courtship, love, grief, and the search for peace. Although this remarkable and heartfelt connection inspired the essay, Julie is not specifically named, and the author shares a personal journey with the reader.
