The Rumjacks Information
The Rumjacks is an Australian punk-folk band. The group's current lineup consists of Pietro Della Sala, Adam Kenny, Gabriel Whitbourne, Johnny McKelvey, and Mike Rivkees. The Rumjacks, a band that has been together since 2008, fuses punk rock with traditional Celtic folk. In addition to their first EP Hung, Drawn & Portered, they released the Sound as a Pound EP later that same year. U.K. Subs, GBH, and Gypsy punk pioneers Gogol Bordello supported the Rumjacks globally.
Their lineup of lead singer Frankie McLaughlin, bassist Johnny McKelvey, drummer Anthony Matters, guitarist Gabriel Whitbourne, and banjo/mandolin/bouzouki player Adam Kenny was stable after some early lineup changes. They recorded three critically acclaimed albums together: Gangs of New Holland (2010), Sober and Godless (2015), and Sleeping Rough (2016), before Matters' departure after their 2016 European tour.
European trips are familiar for the Rumjacks. Their first European tour was in 2015, featuring stops at the Jarocin Festival in Poland and Boomtown in the United Kingdom. In 2016, they returned to the continent for more festival appearances at Woodstock, Poland, Mighty Sounds, Punk Rock Holiday, and the Lowlands Festival. In March 2017, the Rumjacks set out on their first U.S. tour, performing at venues like South by Southwest in Austin and the Get Shamrocked Festival Launch Party in San Diego.
