The Montrose Trio Information
The pianist Jon Kimura Parker and the Tokyo String Quartet have a long-standing and beneficial connection that led to the formation of the Montrose Trio in 2013. The Montrose Trio was founded due to a backstage discussion between first violinist Martin Beaver and cellist Clive Greensmith and Mr. Parker, the quartet's final guest pianist.
The Montrose Trio has quickly gained a reputation for giving performances of the highest caliber. The group is named after Chateau Montrose, a legendary Bordeaux wine long enjoyed after concerts, with a nod to the Winnipeg street where Mr. Beaver was raised and Houston's Montrose Arts District. They "are poised to become one of the top piano trios in the world," according to the Washington Post, which praised their "absolutely top-notch music-making, as fine as one could ever want to hear" in 2015.
Following appearances at Wolftrap in Montreal and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Montrose Trio debuted for the Chamber Music Society of Detroit. In addition to New York, Baltimore, Buffalo, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, La Jolla, Menlo, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, the Hong Kong Chamber Music Festival, and all over Italy, they have continued to perform on important series in these cities.
