The KVB Information
The KVB is a British audio-visual post-punk duo. The current lineup consists of Kat Day and Nicholas Wood. The KVB began in 2010 as the solo recording project of Nicholas Wood, a musician based in Southampton at the time. After releasing several demos online and on limited edition cassettes, the band caught the attention of techno label Downwards, who released their debut EP, Into the Night, in June 2011.
During her time as a fine art student at Goldsmiths, University of London, in late 2011, Nicholas formed a duo with Kat Day, who played synths and provided visuals. They performed their first live show together in December of that year at London's The Shacklewell Arms. Always Then, their debut album was released by Clan Destine Records in February 2012, coinciding with their maiden tour of Europe and with support from The Soft Moon, Singapore Sling (band), and Tamaryn in the United Kingdom.
The KVB accompanied The Brian Jonestown Massacre on their Australia tour that same year, coinciding with the release of their album on A Records. The KVB also played at the ATP Festival at Camber Sands, organized by Loop, and supported them on their UK reunion tour in 2013. The EP Out of Body, released in 2014, was recorded by the duo at Anton Newcombe's studio in Berlin. Joe Dilworth, formerly of the band Stereolab, played live drums on this record. The band played at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and the Oporto Music Festival that same year. The KVB dropped their Fixation / White Walls EP in 2017. The band released its sixth album, Unity, on November 26, 2021.
