The Kruger Brothers Information
The Kruger Brothers is an American bluegrass and new American folk music trio. The current lineup consists of Joel Landsberg (harmony vocals and bass), Uwe Kruger (harmony vocals and guitar), and Jens Kruger (harmony vocals and banjo). While the three members of the band initially met in Switzerland, Jens Krüger and Uwe Krüger ultimately settled in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Early influences on the brothers' development as musicians included recordings by country music pioneers such as Doc Watson, Flatt & Scruggs, and folk music pioneer Bill Monroe. They debuted as a performing duet while busking in various European locations.
Later, after securing a recording contract and a radio show on SRG SSR, the Swiss state broadcaster brought on bassist Joel Landsberg to form a trio that has been actively performing together since 1995. Landsberg was born and raised in New York and is an American citizen. Behind the Barn, Vol. 2 (1997) was the first studio album to feature Landsberg. These days, the band's sound has caught the attention of some of the past musicians who served as inspirations, including Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, Tut Taylor, and Bobby Hicks.
