The Kitchen Dwellers is an American progressive bluegrass band from Montana. The four-piece ensemble consists of Joe Funk on bass, Max Davies on guitar, Torrin Daniels on banjo, and mandolinist Shawn Swain. The group started as a series of jam sessions in the kitchen where the members used to play old-times tunes and covers for fun. The Kitchen Dwellers have performed for thousands at Red Rocks and have been associated with The Infamous StringDusters, Railroad Earth, and Twiddle.
Since its inception, the Kitchen Dwellers have graced many festivals, such as WinterWonderGrass and Northwest String Summit. The group knows how to flawlessly blend bluegrass with adventurous psychedelia and rock and roll energy. ‘Muir Maid’ is a spectacular album that blends the group’s musical past, present, and future. The album is full of their daring and collaborative work done so far.
Some of the Kitchen Dwellers’ previous discographies include an LP entitled Ghost In The Bottle in 2017. The LP includes some notable guest appearances, such as Greensky Bluegrass’s Anders Beck and Little Feat’s Bill Payne. Many of the songs included in the LP racked up over a million streams on Spotify. The Kitchen Dwellers were given the title of a “bluegrass phenomenon” by The Huffington Post. Some of the band’s notable singles are “The Comet” and “Broken Cage.”
