The Criticals is an American rock band that is based in Nashville, Tennessee. The band was formed in 2018 by Cole Shugart and Parker Forbes. The group primarily focuses on energy. Their first and foremost musical inspirations include The Doors, Janes Addiction, and The Stone Roses. Shugart and Forbes used to play music together in a stream of bands in Nashville. They have played in the DIY scene for more than a decade. The two eventually decided to join forces and formed their band, The Criticals.
The Criticals set their sites to create a brand built upon lust, honesty, and youth for life. They put out a stream of singles throughout the year in 2019. The group released its first single entitled “Homebody.” The band members have since attracted global attention. They have been featured by Come Here Floyd, Brooklyn Vegan, Popdust, and Earmilk. The Criticals released its debut EP on November 8, 2019.
Some other notable singles released by The Criticals include “Treat Ya Better,” “Under Your Nose,” “Good Lookin,” “Kate Moss,” “Crocodile Tears,” “Just for the Weekend,” “1952”, “Got No Love,” “The Truth,” “Copacabana,” “Dancing on My Tongue,” and “Belmont.” The band released its debut album, Sour Grapes, in 2020.
