The Choir of Man Information
The musical The Choir of Man was written and composed by Andrew Kay and Nic Doodson in the United Kingdom. Set in a classic English or Irish watering hole, the play has an operational bar from which the performers pour pints of beer as they go.
The musical supervisor, Jack Blume, arranges and orchestrates the show's nine multi-instrumentalist singers as they perform covers of popular rock and pop songs. At the same time, performance poet Ben Norris writes the spoken word monologues that serve as dialogue.
Tap dancer Freddie Huddleston is responsible for the choreography and direction of the movement. Seasons of the production have taken place at locations such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Sydney Opera House since its 2017 debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Choir of Man has been performing aboard the Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Escape cruise ships as a resident show since 2018.
The Arts Theatre played host to the world premiere of The Choir of Man on October 29, 2021, and the show's run was later extended in response to overwhelming audience demand. The show announced its October 2022 return to the Arts Theatre, followed by its 2022 Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play.
