The Bones of J.R. Jones is an American ensemble by the famous singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jonathon Linaberry. The band deals in folk, vintage, punk, pop, rock, and Appalachian genres. The group has been officially active since 2000. It was founded in NYC. Linaberry is from New York State (1982), and he was only six when he first interacted with music. He was signed for piano lessons by his mother while also studying trombone. At 14, Lineberry left the piano and opted for the guitar. After moving to Brooklyn to study at the Pratt Institute, he became enamored of New York City's punk rock scene.
After playing with the Feverfew's acoustic group for a few years, he adopted the stage name the Bones of J.R. Jones. He played one-man-band style and released his first EP under the stage name entitled The Wildness in 2012. In 2014, the first full-length album by Bones of J.R. Jones came out named Dark Was the Yearling. Linaberry released the ambitious second album in April 2016 entitled Spirit's Furnace.
