The Bel Airs is a rhythm & blues band from Columbia, MO. The group was founded in 1981, and it currently consists of Michael Cherry (drums), Dick Pruitt, and Dave Pruitt. Dick and Dave Pruitt are the two brothers on bass and electric guitars who front the band. The brothers grew up on country soul and rock-n-roll, which ultimately developed their harmony vocal style. The Bel Airs is known to play a danceable mix with an authentic but eclectic bluesy-country-soul-and-rock-n-roll music sound. Their sound is heavily influenced by Wilson Picket, Howlin' Wolf, Slim Harpo, and Johnny Cash.
The three band members have been performing together for more than 30 years. The harmony vocal style of the two brothers sets them apart in the contemporary music scene. The members state that while living on the road playing clubs from Austin to Boston, the trio has successfully carried on the tradition of American Rhythm and Blues.
The Bel Airs has released four acclaimed albums and delivered performances at nightclubs and festivals across the USA, France, Belgium, Spain, and England. The group continues to travel extensively.?
