Terry Lee Goffee was born to Tom and Norma Goffee in Cambridge, Ohio, and spent his formative years in the rural town of Byesville, not far away. His boyhood was a blend of typical experiences, including play, exploration, dreaming, and worry, with extended intervals of solitude and quiet reflection. For the eldest of three kids, time spent at his grandparents' farm was one of the best parts of life.
The sound of music was a constant in our household. His aunt played the piano and sang, and two cousins played guitar. Furthermore, an uncle started a band and spent the afternoon at his grandparents' farm playing guitar and singing whenever he visited the town. On rare occasions, he would perform with little more than an old broom handle (his guitar) and a tin can (his microphone) for company. Music dominated his days, which eventually became his life's mission. He immersed himself in music from a young age, listening to and practicing every possible style and genre until he was an accomplished musician.
Goffee moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1979 to pursue a profession in country music. He was the lead singer of a hugely popular country band, so it was natural to assume that he would finally realize his lifelong dreams. Some call it a revelation that ultimately altered the course of my professional life and his aspirations irrevocably.
