Tenille Townes (January 20, 1994) is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter born Tenille Nicole Nadkrynechny. She is from Grande Prairie, Alberta, and attended Peace Wapiti Academy High School. Townes was nominated for a Canadian Country Music Award in the Female Artist of the Year category when she was only 17. In 2009, the single “Home Now” was released. The song was on a topic she learned at school, written from a daughter whose beloved father is fighting in the Afghanistan war. Duane Steele, a country musician, produced the song.
Tenille Townes released her first album in June 2011, entitled Real. Big Hearts For Big Kids is an annual fundraiser by Townes, who has raised over $1.9 million for Sunrise House. It is a shelter for homeless youth in Alberta. In August 2011, Townes appeared on the national television show named Canada AM to perform “Real Me.”
In March 2013, Townes released her second album entitled Light. The Lemonade Stand is her latest studio album that was released in June 2020. “Somebody’s Daughter” was the first single by her that was released via Columbia Nashville. It became her first single to chart, reaching number 92 on the Canadian Hot 100. Townes also released two EPs entitled Living Room Worktapes 2018 and Road to the Lemonade Stand 2020. Townes has won Canadian Country Music Association Awards 2019, ACM Awards 2020, and several nominations.
