Teddy Thompson (February 19, 1976) is an American rock and folk musician. Teddy Thompson was born in a Sufi community in London to folk rock artists Richard and Linda Thompson, who both played a significant role in the English folk rock scene starting in the 1960s. At the age of 18, he created a band. He relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his musical career, which included 1990s employment as a singer and guitarist with his father Richard's band.
He can be heard on at least three Richard Thompson Band albums from that era, including You? Me? Us?, the live album Celtschmerz (1998), and Mock Tudor (1999), as well as a duet on the song "Persuasion" from Richard's best-of collection Action Packed (1999). With several internet videos from 1993, including one on Jools Holland's show, he may be seen playing in his father's band. He persuaded his mother to come out of retirement to co-produce her first album in 17 years, Fashionably Late.
