Aaron Dontez Yates (November 8, 1971) is famously known as Tech N9ne, which is pronounced as "tech nine." He is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur. Yates started with his rock rapping from an early age. His early career began when he joined a group called Black Mafia, formed in 1991. Following this, Yates joined several groups until he finally appeared in a song by Sway & King Tech in 1999 named "The Anthem." “Tech Nine” was a name given to him by Black Walt being a Chopper style and fast rhyming rapper as he is famous for his high-speed rap abilities.
Strange Music, a record label, was founded by Tech N9ne and his business partner Travis O'Guin, who has sold around 2 million albums while his music was featured in many films, video games, and TV shows. Tech N9ne won the Left Field Woodie award in 2009 at the mtvU Woodie Awards.
Some of the legendary studio albums Tech N9ne released are The Calm Before the Storm (1999), The Worst (2000), Everready (The Religion) (2006), Something Else (2013), Planet (2018), Special Effects (2015), and several more. His famous Tech N9ne Collabos releases include Misery Loves Kompany (2007), The Gates Mixed Plate (2010), Welcome to Strangeland (2011), Strangeulation Vol. II (2015), and Strangeulation Vol. III (2019).
Tech N9ne’s music played a significant part in various films such as Born 2 Race, Our Heroes: The 25 Best Black Sports Movies (Ever), The Life of Lucky Cucumber, and Gang Related. His songs were featured in some video games also such as The Crew, EA Sports MMA, Madden NFL 2006, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. He appeared in popular TV shows, including I'm From Rolling Stone, My Super Sweet 16, Dark Angel, Spike Guys' Choice Awards, and a few more.
