Symphony of the Americas Information
The Symphony of the Americas is a musical legacy that has been thrilling audiences with world-class performances of masterworks by some of the classical repertoire. It was founded in 1987 and remains committed to serving South Florida’s multicultural population with unforgettable experiences. The Symphony of the Americas is designated as one of just a handful of Major Cultural Institutions in Broward County. It is stated to be the Broward Center for the Performing Arts home due to its International Guest Artist Series in 1991 since the gala opening concert of the Amaturo Theatre took place.
The musical legacy of the Symphony of the Americas has been captured on PBS as well as on more than 30 compact disc recordings. Since the inception of this legacy, The Symphony has collaborated closely with many local non-profit organizations as well as municipalities for the purpose of presenting outreach concerts along with educational programs.
The Symphony has also proudly served as a cultural bridge to audiences that are residing in Latin America and Europe. The credit goes to the internationally renowned Summerfest program, which is a six-week cultural exchange with major European chamber orchestras. They are joined by selected Symphony members presenting concerts throughout Florida and the Americas.
