Swamp Dogg Information
Jerry Williams Jr. (July 12, 1942) is an American R&B and soul record producer, singer, musician, and songwriter. He is professionally known as Swamp Dogg. In the 1950s and 1960s, he recorded as Little Jerry Williams and Little Jerry. Then, he changed his identity to Swamp Dogg and released a string of eccentric, sarcastic, and wacky albums. He also kept writing and producing for other artists.
He introduced his new sound in 1970's Total Destruction to Your Mind. He was an integral part of Alonzo Williams' World Class Wreckin' CRU in the '80s when the label was responsible for producing artists like Dr. Dre. Described by Williams as a sort of sequel to Total Destruction To Your Mind, Swamp Dogg's 2014 full-length album The White Man Made Me Do It featured new tracks.
The next year, in 2018, Swamp Dogg released an album titled Love, Loss & Autotune, produced by Ryan Olson of Poliça with assistance from Justin Vernon, better known as Bon Iver, who tweaked the voice tracks. Recorded in Nashville with producer Ryan Olson and featuring Justin Vernon, John Prine, and Jenny Lewis, his 2020 album Sorry You Couldn't Make It has a country sound. I Need a Job...So I Can Buy More Autotune was his 2022 album release on Don Giovanni Records.
