Swallow the Sun Information
Swallow the Sun is a Finnish metal band that was founded by Juha Raivio in 2000. The band originated from Jyväskylä, Finland, and its musical style is defined as death-doom, melodic death metal, gothic metal, and progressive metal. The current lineup if the band consists of Juha Raivio – lead guitar, Mikko Kotamäki – lead vocals, Matti Honkonen – bass, Juuso Raatikainen – drums, Juho Räihä – rhythm guitar, and Jaani Peuhu – keyboards, backing vocals. Swallow the Sun is famous for its death-doom style, which emphasizes melody and atmosphere, as well as occasionally steps into gothic and black metal territory.
Out of This Gloomy Light was the first demo by the band which, at Sam's Workshop, was recorded in January 2003 with Sami Kokko. The Morning Never Came was their debut album released on November 15, 2003, and Ghosts of Loss followed on August 24, 2005. Some of the hit singles included in this album are "Forgive Her...," and a few more.
Some of the other notable studio albums by Swallow the Sun are Hope, February 7, 2007; New Moon, November 10, 2009; Emerald Forest and the Blackbird, February 1, 2012; Songs from the North I, II & III, November 13, 2015; and When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light, January 25, 2019. The band also released one EP entitled Plague of Butterflies released on September 17, 2008. A few of the other notable singles by Swallow the Sun are "Don't Fall Asleep (Horror Pt. 2)", "New Moon," "Silent Towers," and "Lumina Aurea."
