SVDDEN DEATH Information
Daniel James "Danny" Howland (June 29, 1993) is an American producer and DJ from San Jose, California, professionally known by his stage name, Svdden Death. He is most recognized for his duet with American multi-platinum musician Marshmello, "Sell Out," which reached number 36 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in early 2019.
Howland grew up in San Jose, California, listening to Kraftwerk before discovering dubstep in 2008, when he discovered musicians like Benga, Skream, and Rusko. Later, he relocated to Los Angeles and began producing electro, hip-hop, and large-room houses under a different identity to hone his sound and approach. He has prior experience playing guitar, bass, and keyboard in various metal, indie, and jazz bands.
Howland teamed with San Francisco-based dubstep producer Somnium Sound on the song "Angel Style," released on the record label Buygore on February 2, 2018. Howland released his second extended play, Junkworld, on February 26 via Never Say Die, including five tracks.
Howland self-released his third extended play, Voyd Vol. I, on July 30, comprised three solo tracks and two collaborations with MVRDA and SampliFire. Snails, a Quebec-based "vomitstep" producer, released a 10-track remix album of The Shell on September 14. Howland's remix of the song "Smack Up," which included Foreign Beggars on vocals, was included on the album, along with tracks by Virtual Riot, Kompany, Kill the Noise, and FuntCase.
