Stray Cats Information
Stray Cats is an American rockabilly band founded in 1979 in the Long Island hamlet of Massapequa, New York, by guitarist Brian Setzer, double bassist Lee Rocker, and percussionist Slim Jim Phantom. "Stray Cat Strut," "I Won't Stand in Your Way," "Bring It Back Again," and "Rock This Town" were among the group's many successful singles in Australia, Canada, and the U.S. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognized "Rock This Town" as a seminal song in the genre's development.
The term "Stray Cats" has been their exclusive moniker since 1983. There were two rock 'n' roll flicks with the moniker "Stray Cats": 1973's That'll Be the Day and 1974's Stardust. Along with enjoying the punk movement, they attended several shows. Along with Charlie Harper and the U.K. Subs, Siouxsie and the Banshees were among the acts they used to watch. They also met the Clash.
The band said in early 2020 that they would release an album named "Rocked This Town: From LA to London," comprised of songs recorded at different locales during the 40th Anniversary tour. The tour ended at the end of the year. Several streaming services joined the previously announced CD and vinyl releases.
