Storyhill Information
Storyhill is an American folk duo. The current lineup of the duo consists of John Hermanson and Chris Cunningham. Storyhill was formed in 1989 in Bozeman, Montana, as Christ & Johnny. The group adopted the name, Storyhill in 1996. They began to perform together in Montana at the beginning and later on expanded their reach to Minnesota. Initially, the band released self-produced albums. The duo eventually signed a record deal with Red House Records and released its album Storyhill in 2007. The album received positive acclaim from critics. The album also got voted the Best Acoustic Ensemble CD of the year by the Indie Acoustic Music Project.
In 2007, Storyhill also won the Kerrville New Folk Competition. In 2008, a documentary film named, Storyhill: Parallel Lives was released. Andrew Zilch directed the film. The duo has released several other albums throughout their career, including Shapeshifting (1991), Different Waters (1992), Miles and Means (1994), Clearing (1995), This Side of Lost (1996), Dovetail (2002), Duotones: A Tribute to Duos of the ‘70s (2005), Shade of the Trees (2010), and Where to Begin (2019).
Storyhill has released an EP and a few live albums as well, such as Collage EP (1996), Live at the Grand (1993), Storyhill Live (1997), Echoes: The Final Show (1997), and Reunion (2001).
