Steve Wariner Information
Steven Noel Wariner (December 25, 1954) is an American country music songwriter and singer as well as guitarist. He was born in Noblesville, Indiana, but grew up in Russel Springs, Kentucky. He taught himself several musical instruments in his teenage such as steel guitar, banjo, drums, bass guitar, and acoustic guitar. Wariner also performed locally in his father’s band. He was recruited as a bass guitar player at the age of 17 when country singer Dottie West heard him playing in Indianapolis at a nightclub. At this point, he had also begun writing his songs.
Wariner co-wrote the song “I’m Already Taken,” which was also his first single release for RCA Records. The single peaked at number 63 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in 1978. In 1980, he came up with a debut self-titled album. The song from his album “Your Memory” brought massive success and reached number 7 on the country charts. In 1983, he released his second studio album “Midnight Fire” on RCA records. Except for the last two tracks, the whole album was co-produced by Norro Wilson and Tony Brown.
Wariner signed MCA Nashville after his contract with RCA ended in 1984. He released his first album on the newly signed record label entitled “One Good Night Deserves Another” in 1985. His other studio album includes Life’s Highway (1985), It’s a Crazy World (1987), I Should Be With You (1988), I Got Dreams (1989), I Am Ready (1991), No More Mr. Nice Guy (1996), and several others.
Wariner has been nominated several times for different awards and won Grammy Awards in various categories.
