Steep Canyon Rangers Information
Steep Canyon Rangers is an American based bluegrass band from Brevard and Asheville. The group was formed in 2009, and the current lineup consists of Woody Platt (acoustic guitar and lead vocals), Graham Sharp (banjo, lead, and harmony vocals), Mike Guggino (mandolin and harmony vocals), Nicky Sanders (fiddle and vocals), Mike Ashworth (box kit, Cajon and vocals), and Barrett Smith (upright bass). However, the band has gone through a few lineup changes since its formation. Most of the albums by the group have been released on Rounder Records. In its early years, Steep Canyon Rangers used to perform in festivals from Colorado to North Carolina. With the band’s early lineup, the group released two albums, including “Mr. Taylor’s New Home” and “Old Dreams and New Dreams.” The latter was released on their record label, Steep Canyon Records.
The band members have so far recorded three albums on the label Rounder Records and two collaborations with Steve Martin. The band’s solo album entitled “Nobody Knows You” won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2013.
Steep Canyon Rangers have released several albums throughout its career which includes The Steep Canyon Rangers (June 1, 2004), One Dime at a Time (September 13, 2005), Lovin’ Pretty Women (August 14, 2007), Deep in the Shade (October 6, 2009), Rare Bird Alert (March 15, 2011), Nobody Knows You (March 27, 2012), Tell The Ones I Love (September 10, 2013), along with several others.
