Sound Tribe Sector 9 - STS9 Information
Sound Tribe Sector 9, also known as STS9, is an instrumental band whose sound is based heavily on electronic music and instrumental rock, jazz, funk, bass, drums, hip hop, and psychedelia. The band was formed in 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Since its formation, STS9 has released two remixed albums (Peaceblaster: Make it Right Remixes and Artifact: Perspectives) and multiple DVDs (Axe The Cables and Live as Time Changes live). The current band members are Hunter Brown (guitar, midi keyboard), David Phipps (keyboards, synthesizers), Alana Rocklin (bass guitar), Zach Velmer (drums), and David Phipps (keyboards, synthesizers).
The band has released many studio albums since 1998, including Interplanetary Escape Vehicle, Sector 9 – The Brown Album, Offered Schematics Suggesting Peace, Live at Home, Artifact, Here...Catch Essential Live Recordings, Axe The Cables –When The Dust Settles, and The Universe Inside.
After their last studio album, STS9 continued to grow by incorporating disco and dance styles into their music. Their self-owned record label “1320 Records” currently boasts more than 300,000 unique downloads and over 1,000 releases by different artists, including ESKMO, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, Big Gigantic, and Pretty Lights.
Over the years, STS9 has performed at many famous festivals and events such as Bonnaroo, Camp Bisco, Wakarusa, Outside Lands Festival, Summer Camp, Regeneration, Electric Forest Festival, Lollapalooza, Backwoods at Mulberry Mountain, Sierra Music Festival, Creekside Jamboree, Fuji Rock Festival, Nateva Music & Camping Festival, Stern Grove Festival, The Verizon Amphitheater, Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival, Moonrise Festival, BUKU, McDowell Mountain Festival, The Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, Pemberton Music Festival, and many more.
