Soda Stereo Information

Soda Stereo was a band from Argentine rock that was created in 1982. The band was a creation by Héctor "Zeta" Bosio (bass), Gustavo Cerati (lead vocals, guitars), and Charly Alberti (drums) in Buenos Aires. It played alternative rock, new wave, and pop-rock genres. Soda Stereo is, although not in its original form, and the trio no more play together, but their union in the form of the tour is expected in 2020. The band faced a break-up in 1997, but later in 2007, it performed a tour for the last time. After the separation, the trio found separate endeavors individually.

Soda Stereo is said to be a legend of Latin music among other Latin American bands. The band achieved massive international success during the 1980s and 1990s. It was also declared to be the first Latin rock band that achieved success all over Hispanic America. Throughout the career of big 15 years, Soda Stereo sold over 17 million albums in Latin America, all alone. After being separated, Gustavo Cerati continued a successful solo career while Zeta Bosio worked as a bassist for some time, but currently, he is touring as a DJ. Charly Alberti also gained moderate success with his two new bands.

The band toured even after the disbanding event, but it received an official seal ending the band when Gustavo Cerati suffered a massive stroke on tour. He went into a coma and died on September 4, 2014. The news for the band separation was unexpected for the fans. The farewell tours by the Soda Stereo were held in Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, and the band’s native Argentina.

Some of the popular albums by Soda Stereo are Soda Stereo (1984), Doble Vida (1988) (Double Life), Dynamo (1992), Sueño Stereo (1995) (Stereo Dream), and a few more. The live and remix albums by the band are Languis (EP) (1989), El Último Concierto B (1997), Gira Me Verás Volver #2 (2008), Gira Me Verás Volver #1 (2008), and many more. Lo Mejor de Los Mejores (1993), Chau Soda (1997) (U.S. #46), El Legado (2004), Lo Esencial (2007), Rock Latino (2012), and Obras Cumbres: Parte 2 (2006) are some of the hit compilations by Soda Stereo.
