Frederik Durand, more popularly known by his stage name Snails, is a DJ from Quebec, Canada. The critics have described Snail’s style of music as ‘vomitstep,’ which features 808s, and synthesizers swinging well past the point of absurdity. He was born on the 5th of May 1988. The music that Snails create is of the genres dubstep, drumstep, vomitstep, trap, and drum, and bass. He debuted in the year 2012 with ‘Bubble Gun’ through a Canadian label called Kannibalen Records.
Snails continued to attain success and have gone on to collaborate with artists such as Jack U and Flux Pavilion. He also frequently plays for famous DJ Skrillex and other known DJs. He released two singles, ‘Pump this’ and ‘Wild’ in 2014. In 2015 Snails was invited to perform at EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, and Ultra Music Festival and also released a single called ‘King Is Back’ in the same year. At the beginning of 2016, Snails went on to perform at Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza. Snail and Botnek released their first single ‘Waffle house’ along with a music video. He also co-produced a song of KSHMR called ‘The Serpent’ from his EP called Materia. Snails were associated with four labels, SLUGZ Music, Kannibalen Records, OWSLA, and Monstercat.
