Sheridan WYO Rodeo Information
A handful of concerned residents of the sleepy little town of Sheridan planned and executed the inaugural Wyoming State Rodeo. It was a huge success, the inaugural rodeo. Professional rodeo competitors flocked nationwide to compete for the $15,000 prize. A group of 250 private individuals with a shared goal of bolstering the rodeo's financial footing established the Gold Buckle Club in 2005.
By participating in the PRCA Million Dollar Tour in 2010, the WYO Rodeo Board increased the prize money for competitors and ensured that the best of them competed in Sheridan. The 2020 WYO Rodeo was postponed because of the epidemic; the only other time this had happened was during WWII. After a one-year hiatus, the Sheridan WYO Rodeo triumphantly returned in 2021 to commemorate the event's 90th anniversary.
