Sepultura Information
Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band founded by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera in Belo Horizonte in 1984. Their later experiments included influences from other musical traditions, such as alternative metal, nu metal, hardcore punk, and industrial metal; yet, during the late 80s and early 90s, they dominated the groove, thrash, and death metal genres.
Sepultura's most recent studio album is Quadra (2020), and the band has produced fifteen albums in total. The band has achieved gold and platinum records globally, including in nations as different as France, with over three million units sold in the U.S. and about twenty million overall. Their home countries are Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, the U.S., Cyprus, and others.
In 2024, in honor of their 40th anniversary, Sepultura is set to go on a farewell tour, as announced on December 8, 2023. Casagrande later confirmed the band's disbandment intentions, although this 18-month tour indicates they want to call it quits in 2025. Arena Hall in Belo Horizonte hosted the tour's inaugural performance on March 1, 2024.
