Among contemporary songwriters, Sean Hartley stands tall. Hartley's musical theater work is what brought him the most fame. Some of the most successful Broadway shows have had him involved in the production in various ways, including composing songs, writing books, arranging music, and more.
Hartley's resume includes stints at the Village Theatre in Seattle, the Spirit of Broadway Theatre, the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, and many more stages and festivals across the United States. The musical Little Women, the children's theater production Number the Stars, and Hartley's contributions to the Disney Channel show The Book of Pooh and Bear in the Big Blue House are among his most recognizable works.
Sean Hartley attended Brandeis and the Manhattan School of Music and graduated with a degree in music. He has also served on the faculties of several different schools over the years in a wide range of capacities. In addition to his career as a lyricist, Hartley founded and directed the concert series "Broadway Close Up and Broadway Playhouse" at New York City's Merkin Hall.
