Sawyer Brown Information
Sawyer Brown is a country music group from the US. Rhythm guitarist and lead singer Mark Miller, keyboardist and vocalist Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard, lead guitarist and vocalist Bobby Randall, drummer Joe "Curly" Smyth, and bassist Jim Scholten formed the band in 1981 in Apopka, Florida.
From that point until 1991, the band recorded for Capitol. Then from 1991 to 2005, except for a brief stint in 2003, they were contracted to Curb Records. In 1991, Duncan Cameron, who had previously been a member of the Amazing Rhythm Aces, took over for Randall, and in 2004, Shayne Hill succeeded him.
"Step That Step" (1985), "Some Girls Do" (1992), and "Thank God for You" (1993) are Sawyer Brown's three No. 1 singles among his eighteen studio albums and fifty Hot Country Songs chart appearances.
Covers of songs by George Jones, Michael Johnson, and Dave Dudley are among the band's popular hits, which showcase a musical style mostly influenced by country pop and rock music. Some artists they've worked with include Joe Bonsall, Mac McAnally, and Randy Scruggs.
Beach Street Records was Mark Miller's Christian music label that he started in the early 2000s. Casting Crowns was one of the initial artists he produced for the label. Jim Scholten, a bass guitarist from Seattle, Washington, departed Sawyer Brown in August of 2021.
