Satsang Information
Satsang is a group that is defined as the mix of soul, folk, rock, and hip hop along with lyrics rooted in social, spiritual, and personal growth. The current lineup of the band is Drew McManus (Guitar/Vocals), Karl Roth (Bass/Keys/Guitar/Vocals), Ben Teters (Drums/Percussion/Vocals), and Stefan Kallander (Guitar). Satsang, within a short time span, headlined or shared the stage with the likes of Trevor Hall, Wookiefoot, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and many more.
This Montana-based quartet has seen massive music success since its inception. The music of the band is primarily based on McManus' life experiences. He spent most of his life trying to distance himself from his troubled upbringing in Des Moines and Chicago that includes violence, abuse, and addiction. He found peace amid family in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana, where he practices his other passions, such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, painting, and social activism.
Some of the notable songs and albums released by Satsang are The Story of You, which was a 2016 debut, along with "I Am," 2017's Pyramid(s), a six-song EP in 2017, and a few more. Pyramid(s) hit number 1 on the Billboard reggae charts and number 2 on the iTunes charts. The band won three Magic City Music Awards in 2014 for the category of Best Male Vocalist, Album of the Year, and Best Americana/Roots.
