Alexandra Artourovna Yatchenko (March 11, 1995) is an American singer and songwriter. She is professionally known by her stage name, Sasha Alex Sloan. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Sloan was featured and given songwriting credit for Kaskade's "Phoenix" in 2015. Sloan's career progressed as she penned songs for performers, including Idina Menzel, Maggie Lindemann, and Camila Cabello. Kygo's "This Town," which featured Sloan and she co-wrote, was released in 2017.
On April 18, 2018, RCA released her first EP, Sad Girl. On November 29, 2018, RCA released her second EP, Loser. She also revealed her debut solo tour supporting the album on the same day. Her album's lead hit, "Older," was included in a February 6 performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. On October 18, 2019, Sloan unveiled her newest extended play, Self-Portrait.
Sasha and country superstar Sam Hunt collaborated on April 22, 2021, to release an acoustic track titled "when was it over?" in which the two singers lament their recent breakups and wonder what went wrong. According to Sloan, the song is about the inability to let go of a person even when nothing is left to give. The song's title was written by one of the song's co-writers, Shane McAnally. King Henry and Emi Dragoi are two the other authors.
