Sarah Kay Information
Sarah Kay (June 19, 1988) is an American poe born in New York City, New York. She earned her MA in education from Brown University and her honorary PhD in humane literature from Grinnell. She now regularly publishes poems and performs her work for various audiences. She is the co-director and primary creator of the ongoing initiative known as Project VOICE. As early as 14, she was already a member of the Bowery Poetry Club's Slam Team in the East Village.
When she entered that year's National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas, she was the youngest competitor by far. She is a frequent competitor in poetry slams. With her performance of "Hands" on HBO's Def Poetry Jam in 2007, Kay made her televised debut. Lincoln Center, the Tribeca Film Festival, and the United Nations' introduction of the 2004 World Youth Report are just a few of the places she has played.
She performed at a benefit for the Acumen Fund in New York City called *spark! in May 2010. She had a performance at the TED conference in Long Beach, California, on March 3, 2011, as part of a series titled "Beauty, Imagination, Enchantment."
