Sarah Jaffe Information
Sarah Allison Jaffe (January 29, 1986) is an American singer and songwriter whose music is classified as Indie. She is from Denton, Texas, and was born in Lufkin in Angelina County, Texas. Jaffe went to high school in Dallas and got her first acoustic guitar when she was about ten years old. Being a part of the musical family, her dad brought folk music influences and her mother, the church choir. Jaffe had musician cousins in Los Angeles and decided to move there for a year and play music. She soon relocated to Denton and began playing with other community musicians regularly.
Jaffe self-released a six-song EP entitled Even Born Again in 2008. The discography features Jaffe on guitar accompanied by a guitarist and a cellist. “Clementine” was the first song released that became one of Jaffe’s most well-known songs. It was included in her first EP and was featured on NPR’s Song of the Day. Jaffe was signed to Kirtland Records (Bob Schneider, Toadies) in 2009 and released her first full-length album in 2010. The album is entitled Suburban Nature. It was followed by another EP named The Way Sound Leaves a Room in 2011.
Visions remix EP was her third and latest EP, released in 2015. Jaffe toured with a few notable artists such as Blitzen Trapper, Astronautalis, The Polyphonic Spree, Lou Barlow, Norah Jones, and Chelsea Wolfe. She has earned 3 Dallas Observer, Dallas Observer Music Awards (DOMA) in 2008.
