Santigold (previously Santogold) is the stage name of American singer and composer Santi White (September 25, 1976). With its innovative fusion of dub, new wave, and hip-hop, her first studio album, 2008's Santogold, was highly praised by critics—top 40 success for the album's second song, "L.E.S. Artistes," in the U.K.
Master of My Make-Believe (2012), her second studio album, included her highest-charting song to date, "Disparate Youth," and reached the top spot on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Her third studio album, 99¢, came out in 2016, and in 2018, she dropped her second mixtape, I Don't Want: The Gold Fire Sessions. In 2008, she was named "Best Breakthrough Artist" by NME, and in 2009, she received the "Vanguard Award" from ASCAP.
In May 2022, after a four-year musical break, Santigold triumphantly returned with the lead song "High Priestess" from her fourth album Spirituals. With the release of "Ain't Ready" in June, she revealed the album's title. Spirituals features Rostam Batmanglij, Boys Noize, Nick Zinner, Dre Skull, Illangelo, Lido, and SBTRKT. The songs "Nothing" and "Shake" were also released before the album.
