Sandra Faye “Sandi” Patty (July 12, 1956) is an American Christian music singer, pianist, and author from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also known as Sandi Patti, Sandi Patty Peslis, and Sandi Patty Helvering. Patty is popular for her wide soprano vocal range, along with expressive flexibility. These qualities have made the music critics dub her “The Voice.” She used to sing “Jesus Loves Me” for her church at two years old. Patty’s music is defined as inspirational and contemporary Christian. She grew up in Phoenix, then San Diego, and graduated from Crawford High School. Later, Patty went to San Diego State University and Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.
After her graduation, Patty used to work as a studio musician for area recording studios, where she sang background vocals and recorded numerous commercial jingles. For My Friends was the first album by Patty that was recorded independently. The album landed in the hands of executives at Singspiration! Records and Patty was signed with the label in 1979, with her first professional record being Sandi’s Song.
Some of her other notable studio albums are 1981: Love Overflowing, 1982: Lift Up the Lord, 1983: Live: More Than Wonderful, 1986: Morning Like This, 1993: Le Voyage, 1997: Artist of My Soul, 2000: These Days, 2008: Songs for The Journey, 2010: The Edge of the Divine, and 2014: Christmas Blessings. Patty won 5 Grammy Awards throughout her career and has won several GMA Dove Awards along with many nominations.
