San Antonio Symphony Information
The San Antonio Symphony Orchestra is a full-time professional orchestra situated in San Antonio, Texas. From late September through early June, it is in season. Sebastian Lang-Lessing, who served as Music Director from 2010 until 2020, was the last to do so. The orchestra is a resident group at San Antonio's Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. The San Antonio Symphony's concert schedule features various musical styles. Guest artists perform at several symphonic concerts. The San Antonio Symphony also hosts solo recitals, open rehearsals, and an annual string-instrument master class with a visiting guest artist.
When she was hired as the San Antonio Symphony's assistant conductor in 2011, Akiko Fujimoto became the first woman to occupy a full-time conducting post on the creative staff. The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio is the primary concert venue for the San Antonio Symphony. In 2014, it became the Symphony's new home. The Symphony Society of San Antonio manages the San Antonio Symphony.
