Sammy Rae and The Friends Information
Sammy Rae is an American bandleader, singer, and songwriter known as just Sam. She was born in the small town of Derby, Connecticut, where she began writing songs at the age of 12 while she was taking piano lessons from Freddie Mercury, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen. Soon, Rae began to perform original compositions in New Jersey and local Connecticut venues. At 15, she released an LP entitled “Hopeless” in 2010.
Rae developed her love for jazz music when she was 16. After becoming interested in jazz, she began to study the legendary female vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Etta James. At 18, Rae released an extended play entitled “Celebrate My Heart” in 2012. She packed everything she owned and moved to New York in 2013 to pursue her career in songwriting and music. Rae enjoyed a six-month residency at the Cotton Club jazz lounge in Harlem.
She released another EP in July 2018 entitled “The Good Life” and caught fire, leading to increasingly more significant sold-out shows around the NYC area at world-renowned venues like The Brooklyn Bowl and Le Poisson Rouge. Sammy Rae released her latest album in January 2022 named “Let’s Throw a Party. “Some of the hit singles of this album are “Whatever we feel,” “Living from Floor, “and “Jackie Onassis." Furthermore, she also released some singles in her melodious voice, such as “Last Christmas” (2020), “Everybody wants to rule the world” (2021), and “Follow Me Like the Moon” (2022)
Rae performed to a sold-out crowd in Brooklyn at C’Mon Everybody. She plays genre-blending performances high in energy, quirky, honest, and influenced by the great performers of her childhood classic rock artists. Sammy Rae recently announced a tour coming to the selected cities of North America under the Follow Me Like the Moon tour (2022).
