Sam Platts and The Great Plainsmen Information
Traditional country and western swing is what Sam Platts and the Plainsmen of southwest Montana bring to the table. Sam Platts on acoustic and electric guitar, J Kane on bass and vocals, Lilly Platts on fiddle, and Bill Dwyer on electric guitar make up the band. It features both new and classic songs.
At events in France and China, they have performed for diverse crowds. Once based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the band is now based in southwest Montana.
Sam honed his appreciation for classic country music throughout his formative years in southern Wyoming when he spent time traveling about his grandfather's ranch. Sam has been performing music professionally since he was a young adult, following in the footsteps of his luthier father.
The band isn't a retro act, even though they play "old" music. Our band plays old-school country and Western swing because it still has an audience today. Our music works equally well at large outdoor events as it does in more secluded listening rooms.
